As I was brainstorming a possible title for this album and thinking back on the time that has passed since my last recording, I realized this year marks a significant milestone - I have been playing for 25 years, or a quarter of a century. What a journey it has been, filled with great musical experiences, encounters, travelling, and growth! This album includes a number of my fiddle favourites, which I often include in concerts, as well as seven new original compositions. In January 2017, my wife Aline and I treated ourselves to a week away, just the two of us, to explore the wonderful city of New York (Trip to NYC). I wrote the Eve of Christmas Eve on December 23 with the excitement of the Christmas season upon us. My sweet daughter was born in 2015 and I was inspired to write Valse Éloïse. I was thinking how my fiddle has always accompanied me through the ups and downs of life and composed My Fiddle, My Companion. Singing and Swinging in the Shower does not require much more explanation… Having written a tune for my daughter, I thought I should also write a tune for my two sons. Félix et Théo reminds me of these two brothers and good friends playing in the living room together. I love to cross-country ski in the winter. Still Winter Night evokes the quiet evenings when I go skiing by myself. Happy listening!
